SHANSHAN JIANG
After Water, Before Form
Solo exhibition · artpistol Gallery, Glasgow
12 September – 15 October 2026

After Water, Before Form brought together recent ink paintings and sculptural works on paper. Water, absorption, contact and pressure shape Jiang’s exploration of how an image emerges.
The opening conversation on 12 September 2026 brought Shanshan Jiang together with Justin Carter, Reader in Contemporary Practice: Art & Environment at The Glasgow School of Art, hosted by Suzie from artpistol Gallery.
Opening guests included a representative of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Edinburgh; Zeng Shaoming; He Jing and Sun Xiaoping; and Shabir Beg OBE, alongside artists, educators and members of Glasgow’s cultural community.
